Blog #10 Pareidolia- it’s not only for a haunting anymore!

From Wikipedia

Pareidolia (pronounced /pærɪˈdoʊliə/) is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant. Common examples include seeing images of animals or faces in clouds, the man in the moon, and hearing hidden messages on records played in reverse. The word comes from the Greek para- ("beside", "with", or "alongside"—meaning, in this context, something faulty or wrong (as in paraphasia, disordered speech)) and eidolon ("image"; the diminutive of eidos ("image", "form", "shape")). Pareidolia is a type of apophenia.

I’m often given a picture to look at to see orb or an anomaly to ask my opinion on. I often have to explain what pareidolia is and what they are actually seeing.

The eyes can play tricks on the mind to place random spots and lines in some kind of sense. One can spend hours looking at wood paneling or markings on a turtle and see faces, animals, objects and even spirits. There are several very wide known mass pareidolia of people see the face of a religious figure on a piece of toast or on the side of a building. Which is quite amazing in some cases but does it have to do with the actual spirit world?

Orbs are spirit lights that come up in photos that are perfectly round. They have a nucleus center a inner ring and a outer ring. There is often random dots and other stuff inside the orb as well and when magnified they sometimes take on forms of faces, people, animals, angels, demons and of course…. nothing at all.

So, next time you take that picture and look deep at that little spot and see a face staring at you, ask yourself, is this pareidolia or is it a ghost.

Here pareidolia is explained by Shane Killian on Youtube.

That's all for now, ooooh doesn't that cloud seem to look like.....
